Youth Advised to Embrace Agriculture as Key Driver of Jobs and National Progress

Recent calls from national stakeholders urge Ghana’s youth to reclaim agriculture as a pathway to sustainable employment and national development. In an era of rising unemployment and economic uncertainty, agriculture is being repositioned not just as a source of subsistence, but as a strategic sector capable of yielding real income, resilience, and value-chain opportunities.

At Farmer Globale, we fully subscribe to this vision. Through our Youth Elevate Project, in partnership with Kosmos Innovation Center, we are working to transform how young people view and engage in farming. Technical trainings in the Volta Region expose participants to the full spectrum of agriculture — from crop cultivation to livestock and fisheries — combined with business skills and sustainable practices.

We believe that by equipping youth with modern tools, knowledge, and access to markets, we can help reverse negative perceptions of agriculture as “old-fashioned” or low-return work. Indeed, agriculture offers far more than food production: it provides pathways into post-harvest processing, agritech, input supply, logistics, marketing, and export.

As national voices call for youth to embrace farming, Farmer Globale stands ready — committed to turning that call into action. Through our interventions, we aim to nurture a generation of agripreneurs who will lead the transformation of Ghana’s agricultural sector, drive job creation, and build economic resilience from the ground up.
