Volta Basin Rice Technology Project (VORTEX)
The VORTEX Project is an initiative of Farmer Globale, embodying our commitment to transforming traditional farming through modernization, mechanization, and sustainability. Implemented across rice growing communities in Ghana, this project showcases our efforts to create a fully mechanized and irrigated rice farming system that significantly boosts productivity and contributes to the country’s food security.
The VORTEX project covers over 5000 acres of consolidated small – medium scale rice farms, dedicated to the commercial production of quality paddy rice. Through our strengthened out – grower scheme engagement we are able to aggregate over 5000 metric tons of quality paddy rice annually from over 1000 smallholder farmers. This remarkable output is achieved through the integration of modern technology, sustainable mechanization, and best farming practices. Our out-grower scheme members are trained on precision farming, sustainable mechanization, good farmers practices, farmer business schools and promotion of rice innovations like Alternative Wetting & Drying (AWD) technology to maintain soil fertility and ensure long-term productivity.
