Job Summary:
The Irrigation Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of irrigation systems across Farmer Globale’s commercial farming projects. This role will ensure that irrigation practices are optimized for crop growth, water efficiency, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and oversee the installation of irrigation systems for various crops.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure optimal water distribution.
- Conduct regular inspections and repairs to prevent system failures and minimize water wastage.
- Train farm staff and farmers on the effective use of irrigation systems and water-saving techniques.
- Collaborate with agronomists and farm managers to align irrigation practices with crop requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Irrigation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in irrigation management, particularly in commercial farming.
- Strong technical skills in designing and operating irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of water management practices and sustainable irrigation solutions.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced Knowledge of Irrigation Technologies: Expertise in advanced irrigation systems like drip irrigation, sprinkler systems, and automated control systems.
- Water Resource Management: Experience in sustainable water management practices, including rainwater harvesting and soil moisture monitoring.
- GIS Mapping Skills: Understanding of geographic information systems (GIS) for mapping irrigation zones and optimizing water distribution.
- Environmental Awareness: Knowledge of environmental conservation techniques and regulatory compliance for water usage in agriculture.
