Job Summary:
The Field Agronomist will work closely with farmers and agricultural stakeholders to provide technical expertise and support in crop production, soil health, and pest management. This role requires field visits, hands-on training, and the promotion of sustainable farming practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct farm visits to assess crop health, soil conditions, and overall farm productivity.
- Provide training to farmers on good agronomic practices, including crop rotation, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
- Build strong relationships with farmers, serving as a trusted advisor and cultivating a partnership for success.
- Assist in implementing sustainable farming techniques and innovations to improve yields.
- Collaborate with research institutions to integrate new farming technologies into field practices.
- Monitor crop growth and identify potential threats from pests or diseases.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate field insights into product development and business strategies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a field agronomist or in a related position.
- Deep knowledge of agricultural best practices, pest management, and soil health.
- Strong communication and training skills, especially in rural settings.
Preferred Skills
- Field Research Experience: Previous involvement in conducting agricultural trials or on-field research to optimize crop performance.
- Familiarity with Digital Farming Tools: Knowledge of digital agriculture platforms, GIS tools, or mobile-based solutions for monitoring crops and farm productivity.
- Problem-Solving: Strong ability to diagnose crop issues and implement appropriate solutions under varying field conditions.
- Local Language Proficiency: Ability to communicate in local dialects, which helps in building rapport and trust with rural farmers.
